Clear aligners have made straightening teeth discreet and comfortable for adults and teens alike. Here is everything you need to know before you start.
Clear aligners are a series of custom, near-invisible removable trays that gradually move teeth into place. They suit mild-to-moderate crowding, spacing and bite issues, are removable for eating and cleaning, and typically take six to eighteen months. For very complex cases, braces may still be the better choice.
How they work
Using a 3D scan, your whole treatment is planned digitally. You receive a series of trays, each worn about two weeks, moving your teeth a small, precise amount until they reach the planned position.
Who they suit
- Adults and teens wanting a discreet option.
- Mild-to-moderate crowding, gaps or minor bite issues.
- People who can commit to wearing trays 20-22 hours a day.
The advantages
- Nearly invisible and comfortable.
- Removable - eat what you like and clean normally.
- Fewer clinic visits than fixed braces.
Aligners or braces?
